About Me

Carolyn Kalos, Esq.

I have been a family lawyer for over 25 years allowing me to see the toll that divorce, custody disputes, and overall conflict can take on families. I have experience in every aspect of the family law system, and an ability to understand and account for the needs of different parties in complex family dynamics.

My Story

I have been a litigator, trial skills instructor, and adjunct professor, all in the area of family law. I am also the associate director at The Center for Mediation & Training offering collaboration with experts in the field.

One of the things I have come to realize is how vulnerable children are when experiencing family stress and conflict. I represented child after child and decided that I wanted to help in a different, and hopefully less antagonistic, way.

Research shows that it is not divorce that harms children; it is the stress and conflict. Mediation can create an atmosphere that enables families to create their own solutions and to remain focused and in control of their situations. I am skilled in helping families approach crises respectfully which I believe helps relationships regardless of the outcome.

I am approachable, a quick and creative thinker, and fully committed to helping families.
